I would like to take this opportunity and introduce myself. My name is Sheynaz Noelle-Mamuti, and I have joined Marilyn Roberts Psychological Services as a Counselling Therapist Student under the supervision of Marilyn Roberts, Registered Psychologist. I am completing a practicum placement at Marilyn’s practice as the final stage of my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. I am currently a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and I am awaiting registration after completing my practicum with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).

 

Through my education, work, and personal experience, I have developed a therapeutic stance that is client-centred, nonjudgmental, and culturally responsive. Clients are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to help them discover their strengths and develop better coping strategies and new insights about their lives. The evidence-based model of therapy I use is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am committed to furthering my education in ACT and have taken several courses and will continue to do so. My areas of interest are, but not limited to, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and individual, couples, and family therapy.
