About Marilyn
I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University and have been providing psychological services since 2001. I spent nine years working with IWK Community Mental Health and more than a decade in private practice settings before establishing my own practice in 2021.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and life challenges. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s unique strengths, needs, and goals.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is the primary framework that guides my work. ACT supports clients in developing greater psychological flexibility—learning how to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions, and to take action that is guided by personal values. When working with children, adolescents, and adults, I also incorporate the DNA-V model, a developmentally informed approach grounded in ACT that helps build self-awareness, resilience, and adaptive responding to everyday challenges.
I also draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and other evidence-based approaches when appropriate. My work is grounded in the belief that change happens through both increased awareness and practical skill-building.
I aim to provide care that is developmentally sensitive, culturally responsive, and collaborative. When helpful, I also work in coordination with other professionals to support integrated care.
